Altar Society
The Altar Society provides vital care for our
church and its worship space. It is charged with creating
a worship environment in harmony with the liturgical season
or feast as well as with care of the sacred linens and altar
appointments. The altar society also raises funds for the
purchase of flowers and materials needed for the church.
Volunteers are encouraged to join the altar
society and work with others in taking care of “God’s
Home.”

Lectors
A "lector" is a Minister of the Word. Each Sunday lectors proclaim the first and second readings as well as the General Inctercessions. This ministry requires that the readings be prepared in advance, proclaimed clearly and reverently.
The community is always in need of persons to accept this ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers
The Church provides for the use of extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist. The term "extraordinary" is used because the ordinary minister is the priest or deacon. In order for the celebration of the Mass to proceed in a timely and orderly manner, Eucharistic ministers assist with the distribution of both the Eucharistic bread and cup. Service in this ministry is by invitation and appointment of the pastor.
Some Eucharistic ministers also are trained to bring communion to shut-ins and the infirm.

Music Ministries
Holy Spirit Music Program
Holy Spirit Parish has developed a community-based music ministry
featuring singers and musicians of all ages. The parish has
a Children’s choir for first – through fourth-graders,
a youth choir for fifth-through eighth-graders, an adult choir
of men and women, and a guitar ensemble with mixed ages. These
groups, along with our regular cantors and accompanists, provide
music at all Masses and special services throughout the year.
The parish encourages and welcomes those with
musical gifts to become involved in this ministry for more
information, please contact the individual choir directors
(see below), or Rachel Songer, who coordinates the overall music
program for the parish.
If interested please contact Rachel Songer
through the rectory at holyspiritlandpark@sbcglobal.net
or (916)443-5442.
Holy Spirit Adult Choir
Our adult choir sings at the 9:30 Mass on the 2nd & 4th
Sundays of the month. We practice on Tuesday evenings from
7:30 – 8:45 at the church. You do not need to have previous
choral experience to join, just the time to make Masses and
rehearsals. This is a friendly group of parishioners. There
is usually at least one or two who are not Catholic, which
is fine. We welcome anyone who at least can carry a tune!
For more information, call Nina at: (916)447-4648
or email at nvigil@macnexus.org.
Holy Spirit Children’s Choir Program
The Holy Spirit Children’s Choir Program has two choirs
which sing throughout the school year. We invite children
grades 1 through 4 to join our Children’s Choir. Our
mission is to gain a deeper understanding through music of
our relationship with God and the Church, and of the Mass
and our role in it. We sing on the 1st Sunday at 9:30 Mass,
and by special arrangement. We practice from 3 to 3:50 in
the Holy Spirit Parish School kindergarten room.
We invite young people grades 5 through 8 to
become part of the Holy Spirit Music Ministry by singing in
the Youth Choir. We sing on the 3rd and 5th Sundays at 9:30
Mass, and by special arrangement. The selections are usually
more challenging than those at the children’s choir
level, and we learn the process of music liturgy planning.
We practice on Thursdays from 4 to 4:50 in the Holy Spirit
Parish School kindergarten room.
Please contact Rebekah Bokan at bekarebba@hotmail.com
for additional information.
Holy Spirit Guitar Ensemble
Guitar Ensemble features piano, bass and guitar
players, and high school and adult singers. The ensemble provides
contemporary Catholic music, sprinkled with the traditional,
at all Saturday 5:15 Masses. The group rehearses on Thursday
evenings.
If interested please contact Rachel Songer
through the rectory at holyspiritlandpark@sbcglobal.net
or (916)443-5442.
