This weekend, November 22nd and 23rd, reading introductions:
First Reading: Ezekiel 34:11 - 12, 15 - 17
Ezekiel preached to Jewish exiles at Babylon in the sixth century before Christ. They were a disappointed people and they blamed poor leadership for getting them into this mess. In this passage, Ezekiel uses a popular biblical image of God, that of a shepherd who cares for the sheep.
Second Reading: Corinthians 15:20 - 26, 28
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul addresses problems his converts in the community were experiencing. Some members had questioned the bodily resurrection of Jesus and their own resurrection as well. this passage is Paul's response.
